Yota Devices Pavilion ’13 by External Reference

About the Project

Mediodesign worked on the production of Yota Device Pavilion at Mobile World Congress MWC 2013, designed by External Reference Architects.

MWC is the largest fair of mobile technology in the world. The event was held again at the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, in the premises of the Fira Gran Via. More than 72,000 attendees from 200 countries participated in an event that brings opportunities, inspiration and innovation.

In Yota Devices Pavilion, the Russian telephone company will presented the new Yota Phone, the first Android phone with liquid crystal display (LCD) and paper display (EPD), among other innovations.

According to External Reference Architects, the intention of the pavilion is twofold: firstly, present the new products of the company and secondly, create a sensory experience for visitors.

The pavilion project proposes a kind of interactive penetrable sculpture, in which the flow is regulated by a series of thin vertical bars traversing the entire space.

For this project, External Reference trusted us to develop the display system of mobile devices and special furniture. Such displays consist of transparent and translucent acrylic capsules manufactured by thermoforming, joined together to form an interior illuminated bubbles. Inside the capsules were placed pieces to hold the devices made of aluminum composite. To illuminate the device, we develop technical Corian machined parts to insert the LED system.
